Trop cool, Rodolphe! Love what you guys are doing. When you get back I’d love to talk to you about all this – it’s got me thinking about St Paul (1 Cor 12:12-26), Irish agricultural economics (look up ‘meitheal’), and Emmanuel Levinas (collaboration takes you out of the ‘chez soi’ and towards the ‘hors-de-soi’). Lots to chew on.
Tomorrow (8 August) is the feast of our founder, St Dominic, and in the early days of the Order he dispersed the brothers, against the advice of all his supporters, from Toulouse to various other cities. A group were sent to Paris, and they were to travel, like you, using only the collaborative economy… One brother, John of Spain, refused to go without cold hard cash. Dominic wept for him, but finally gave him some money. Mind you, the three brothers who travelled as mendicants arrived in Paris three weeks before John 🙂
Well done on beginning this brilliant initiative, Rodolphe. I’ll be praying for you all – bonne route!
